Why the name?

"The Jericho settlement was begun in 1864 but the site was abandoned in 1865 because of Indian trouble. Families returned on September 10, 1872, accompanied by Stake President Joseph A. Young. He laid out the townsite and named it "Joseph City" in honor of himself." Source: Pioneer Magazine, Volume 61, Number 3, History of Sevier County and the Valley of the Trails.
